CZ 308 Bren
CZ 308 BREN is a gas-operated assault rifle designed and manufactured by Česká zbrojovka Uherský Brod.
However the modular design enables users to change the caliber of the weapon to
5.56×45mm NATO or 7.62×51mm intermediate cartridges by quick change of barrel with gas tubes,
breech block, magazine bay and magazine.
Moreover the CZ 805 BREN was created to replace the Sa vz. 58 in the Czech Army in 2006,
which later sprung a family of rifles; CZ 807, CZ BREN 2, CZ BREN 2 BR, CZ BREN 2 PPS.,
CZ BREN 2 MS,CZ BREN 2 MS Carbine etc
The CZ 308 Bren is used by various police and military forces, including in the Czech Republic,
Indonesia, and Mexico.
The CZ BREN assault rifle is fitted with folding iron sights, but also includes an
integral Picatinny rail on top of the receiver and is capable of accepting a wide variety
of additional sighting equipment (red-dot or telescope day sights, night sights, lasers etc.).
Besides the weapon is equipped with side-folding buttstock, which is adjustable for length of pull,
and can be completely removed if maximum compactness is required.
Is CZ 308 Bren A Good Gun?
CZ 308 Bren is a better mousetrap in some areas. However Its gas-handling
characteristics and ergos are superior, accuracy is acceptable,
and overall shooting characteristics are as good as its rivals.
The CZ 308 Bren have been in services with the Czech armed forces
and the the France GIGN anti terrorist unit and is however been adopted
by the Hungarian army.
In addition the rifle features a separate detachable magazine housing
which can be replaced easily to allow the use of STANAG or
HK G36 5.56×45mm NATO magazines.
It is also capable of housing a 5.56×45mm NATO 100-round Beta C-Mag.
In standard configuration, the CZ 308 BREN uses a 5.56×45mm NATO
proprietary made of transparent polymer made by CZUB.
The CZ Bren 2 MS is a new generation light select fire rifle, which is characterized
by exceptional reliability, high accuracy, outstanding ergonomics and ease of control.
Compared to smaller caliber rifles, the CZ BREN 2 BR with 16“ barrel and 7,62×51 NATO
chambering boasts a considerably longer effective range with greater downrange energy.
What caliber is the CZ 308 Bren?
CZ 308 BREN is chambered in the popular 223 Rem caliber. It comes with a long,
interchangeable forend, 425 mm barrel and extended folding/telescopic shoulder stock
with raised comb. Its design is optimized for accurate shooting, even at longer distances.
The CZ 308 Bren gun was a licensed version of the Czechoslovak ZGB 33 light machine gun
which in turn, was a modified version of the ZB vz. 26, which British Army officials had tested
during a firearms service competition in the 1930s.
The later Bren gun featured a distinctive top-mounted curved box magazine,
conical flash hider, and quick change barrel. The name Bren was derived from Brno,
the Czechoslovak city in Moravia, where the Zb vz. 26 was designed
(in the Zbrojovka Brno Factory) and Enfield, site of the British Royal Small Arms Factory.
The designer was Václav Holek, a gun inventor and design engineer.
Nevertheless It was capable of semi or fully automatic fire from a distinctive
curved top-mounted 30-round magazine. It was 45.5 inches in overall length,
and employed a quick-change 25-inch barrel, which could be replaced in seconds,
allowing it to keep up a sustained rate of fire.
