Remington 700 Sps Tactical
Remington 700 Sps Tactical Enhanced pairs the strongest action ever conceived,
the Remington 700 with an exclusive aircraft-grade aluminum alloy
chassis of unmatched rigidity and atmospheric immunity to create the most stable
and consistent platform possible for launching long-distance shots.
It’s a potent combination made even more effective with a host of accurizing upgrades
that include a 24″ fluted barrel with 5R rifling, free-floated in an aluminum handguard,
plus a completely user-configurable enhanced stock for the
ultimate in comfort from any shooting position.
However Its sub-MOA accuracy is confirmed using advanced CATS
(Computer Aided Targeting System) before it ever gets to you.
But the best part is confirming its tack-driving superiority for yourself. More than a rifle,
The Remington 700 Sps Tactical is a fully optimized system that’ll stretch your effective range
and shrink your groups like no other production rifle in the world today.
Using a series of four microphones that isolate the shockwave of each bullet
in a three-shot test group, The CATS computerized system triangulates the exact position of the projectile,
plots the coordinates, and measures the distance between each shot with unmatched precision.
This is the same system used to confirm the accuracy of Remington Defense sniper rifles
currently serving in theatres worldwide. By removing the human element,
this process delivers unwaveringly precise and repeatable results.
A printed copy of each Model 700 PCR’s CATS accuracy test is included in the box.
How Accurate Is Remington 700 Sps Tactical
Remington 700 SPS Tactical hits its target flawlessly. With standard Federal blue box 150gr ammo,
I was able to maintain a 1″ three shot group at 100 yards.
Upgrading to Silvertips, the groups shortened to just under 0.75″.
This shows the awesome advantage of having an accurate,
short barreled rifle when walking through the bush.
Deer and other big game won’t know what hit ’em!
I originally thought the Remington 700 Sps Tactical was a perfect compact package for around $750,
until I noticed its main flaw. However there are only two cartridge choices, .
223 Remington and .308 Winchester. In Canada .223 is illegal to hunt big game
with in “most” parts of the country. I can’t find a good answer in the Ontario regulations, so
.308 really is the only caliber of choice. Not trying to shoot down .308 like I did with the X-mark Pro,
but I feel having more variety would really put this rifle above and beyond its predecessor.
As an example, this rifle would really kick ass if it was chambered in 300WSM,
though it’d probably need a longer barrel to avoid throwing
all that extra powder out as a big bad fireball.
How To Adjust and old Remington 700 Sps Tactical
Remington 700 sps Tactical is somehow easy and technical to adjust.
Adjusting a Remington 700 Sps Tactical trigger is quite simple.
Be careful as too light a trigger pull can be quite dangerous.
Do not adjust a 700 trigger so low that it will go off when you do not intend it to.
Remember, you do not have as much control with gloves on. After adjusting a trigger,
you want to slam the but of the rifle down on the ground several times while
c0cked with the safety off (and no round in the chamber)
to make sure that the trigger the sear
will not release, allowing the pin to fall and set off a round.
Most will want a trigger to be three pounds or more for safety.
First thing, remove your barreled action from the stock. Use a 5/32″ Allen/hex wrench.
Remove the front screw three-fourths of the way.
Then remove the rear screw all the way. Make sure you remember that the long screw
goes in the tang area, and the short one goes in front of the receiver.
